On keepin' yer laces high...
Greetings all,
I have a small problem and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has it. After tying my laces (correctly mind you) on my ghillies they have a tendency to want to slip down my leg and pool up around my ankles. While I find this an endearing trait for kittens and puppies, I want my laces to stay up, without cutting off circulation. Any one have a trick or two under the kilt?
Thanks

I'm sure there was a better way of phrasing that.
Little help, first. Are your calves thick or skinny? How far up your legs do you tie them? Are you wearing traditional kilt hose with them?

As a Drum Major who has marched way too many miles to count in my ghillies I come to you with experience. There are several reason why your laces are falling but we don't need to get into them here. The best soution that I have found, and this was given to me by one of the most decorated Drum Majors in the US and Canada, is to spray your laces with hair spray. OK now that you are done laughing, it works. Just hit the laces with plain old hair spray but spray lightly. You do not need to lacquer them, just enough to make them a wee bit tacky.
Thats my two cents

Try not wearing them so high. I don't know if there's an international standard somewhere, but I think they should be tied a little above the ankle, not half-way up the shin like some people do. Twist a few times in the front, bring them around and twist a few times in the back, then bring them straight to the front and tie them. Pull the loops so they hang about as far as the tassels. I wear mine tied off to the side a little, directly under the flashes.

Thanks all. I just noticed the other similar topic just after posting mine. It pays to be observant.
More questions. When spraying your laces with hair spray, I'm assuming that it is after they are in place?
Good point about tying them lower on the leg.
Traditional Kilt hose? Well, yes with additional cuffs...
And as to the question of whether my legs are large or skinny, try to imagine cabers with shoes...
