    Kilted Nobles

If you click on the link below, you will see a glorious photo of the Finlaggan Pursuivant of the MacDonalds! This was from an article on the Finlaggan Pursuivant being appointed to join the Slains Pursuivant of the Earl of Erroll, Garioch Pursuivant of the Countess of Mar, and the Endure Pursuivant of the Earl of Crawford and Balcarres as private Scots heralds. Anyway, have you ever seen four such dignified, kilted men? What dignity!

Of course dignity comes with wearing a kilt, this picture just proves it. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry about that. It has to do with heraldry; however, I posted the picture because of the chiefs in the kilts. A little bit of background....

Over 500 years ago, the power of Clan Donald, Lord of the Isles was crushed by the king. One of the offices that got the boot was the Pursuivant; that is, an officer of Arms. A Pursuivant is just under the Herald. He acted as the chief's messenger, historian, etc.

The four men in kilts, I believe, are the chiefs of the various branches of Clan Donald. For the first time in 510 years, the chiefs of Clan Donald appointed a new Finlaggan Pursuivant (man on the far right). The Ross Herald (second man on the right), one of the Heralds of the Lord Lyon, was there as an official representative.

Thumbs up They drank 2 that!

LOL! And also in the picture, not quite hidden from view, is the empty!! ;) Decanter, which probably until just before the picture was taken, held a wee drop or two of fortification against the Highland chill!
