Kilted Activities
I wore a kilt to our organizational picnic Thursday and had a great time. The only time that wasn't quite so fun fun was getting drug across the ground in the Tug of War contest (I was anchorman, so the rope was tied around me). It's a good thing I wasn't going regimental or everyone would have gotten a real show!
I went on a volksmarch this morning in a kilt and got all kinds of compliments. One lady even wanted her picture taken with me. Several people said they liked how it brought some color to the walk when people wore different outfits. Of course I got a few "Are you Scottish?" type questions, but mostly it was just "I like your kilt." This is all pretty good for western Maryland, where we have a fair amount of folks of the redneck variety.

I will say that as someone elese who is kilted in Frederick, I have never had a problem with the "locals". By the way, be on the look out in the Kilt Night forum section. I am currently planning something for July 1, just don't know what or where yet.

Fading Brain
Was gonna tell you about a big clan gathering coming up in Western Maryland, about 9 miles south of Frederick...but for the life of me can't remember the clan or find a note on it. Had to be one of mine since I've already sent my niece to take her family to it and connect. Suspected it was the Camerons or the Gordons....dang. Pay attention, its bound to be advertised. Its like the annual national gathering...fun fun fun...
Fading fast at 60...

Yes, it was a gathering of the Camerons at the 6th Annual Frederick Celtic Festival. They were the 2005 honored clan. This was on May 14. Our Celtic Festival is always on the second Saturday of May. It is put on by the St. Andrew's Society of Mid-Maryland, which I am the vice president of. The 2006 honored clan is the Gordon's.

Well Dang...
Makes sense now. Thanks...guess the niece and her family didn't go or I'm sure I'd have heard joyous tales of adventure....
Clan gatherings and Highland Games are as addictive as kilts!

Unfortunately, I will be in San Antonio that night. However, I would be up for the next time, whenever that may be.
