Twice in one night...
Just thought I'd post that I saw 2 kilts on TV in one evening... first was a Burger king commercial, featuring some punk band playing a song about BK's new 'chicken fries' - one of the band members, who is only on screen briefly, in a red/black kilt. I don't know about about tartans to see which.
Lateron I'm watching Good Eats on the food network, and it's a show about oats, and they are talking about the Scots and how they were largely responsible for people eating oats (according to Alton Brown, until the English saw the scots eating oats, they only fed oats to their horses), and he did a quick scene about haggis (oats in haggis...) and him and an 'extra' were wearing tanks as he described what haggis is. He even tried a scottish accent. He sounded like a Canadian Arnold Schwartzenagar ;)
Funny thing is, I'm in the middle of (trying to) making my own kilt as I'm watching these shows ;)
I'll post pics as soon as I get it to a wearable state.
EDIT: I went to the BK site, and they have a link to the "band's" website... http://www.coqroq.com/ - you can meet the band... Fire Bird is the one in the kilt. There's a cool gallery there... no pics, but it's neat how you see the pics... give it a shot.

A "punk band" playing a song about chicken fries in a commercial for a huge restaurant chain? Just doesn't seem right, does it?
At least one of 'em is kilted!

I saw the commercial for the first time last night.
If you go to the website and look in the Gallery, you will find 1 photo of the Kilt and 1 photo of 2 tartans with the band logo belt buckle over it. YOu have to dig for the pics but they are there.
Weird ad campaign for BK.

Aah... I didnt have the patience to sort through all the pics. It is cool how the gallery works though.
Yeah, they seem like they are trying to be badass and edgy and whatnot, but they fabricated this 'band' to sing a thrash song about chicken fries. Um. BK... you kinda lost about 20% of that "edgy coolness" when the guys in the band are wearing "hardcore" death-chicken headgear, and another 172% of your edgy coolness when they finished the song with the words "BK's new chicken fries"

I am also very suprised at this tactic. I would not be suprised if some parent group goes after them for the name and the theme.
Oh well, cool to see the kilt.

I haven't seen the commercial, but one assumes that it is the same as the video on the site. Click on the link that says the music. Couple of kilt shots.

Haven't seen the commercial (no TV watcher), but I guess that the kilt should not be an issue when I go to Burger King (usually isn't).

I thought it was just amusing. I mean, it's a punk band with CHICKEN HEADS! And their name was actually a very clever play on words.
I agree that some parent groups will probably get upset about it, but then they also get upset about things like Harry Potter. So I don't worry about that too much.

It looks like the band was created by Burger King to promote their products. If you look at the bottom of their website you'll see that it's copyrighted by Burger King.
