Good Evening and Good Day to all!
Thought I might take a few moments here and share about my day.
First off was Church and I went kilted today. We were keeping our neighbors two year old for her for the weekend as she was having some minor surgery done and was out of town for the procedure. In the process of dropping him off at the nursery a friend of ours asked "what day is it?" to which first my wife and then I replied "Sunday". We then found out she was refering to the reason for wearing the kilt and I told her "just because" and winked. On my way to secure our seats one of our ushers pointed at my kilt and happily said "Hey nice!". There were a few more "What's the occasion" type question but no where a dissapproving comment or glance and plenty of complements.
Later we headed off to Fargo to pick up the mother of our two year old charge. At the airport while making that necessary stop that we all do after a trip a gentleman said "I see you are wearing a kilt. May ask a question? (I braced for what I thought was coming and said sure.) Is it true, he said that you carry a ornamental knife in the pouch in front? I then explained about the Sgain Dubh and where it is actually carried.
Once our friend had arrived we were making our way out to the car and as we went a lady stopped me and said "I see you're wearing a kilt I've never seen one before it's so cool! (Made me feel good all over! ).
We had to stop for gas (At a truck stop no less) and a bite to eat on our way out of town there were lots of head to toe looks but no comment, except one man asked if we carry suspenders (braces). I politely explained that I didn't work there.
The rest of the day was uneventful until one of our young neighbors saw me in the yard and asked if I had gone some where in "That" I gently explained that "That" was a kilt and not a S**** and that it was a mans' garment. What came next nearly floored me as this 10 something girl asked me if I wore shorts (underwear) beneath! :o Not wanting to start something I replied "of course! Why wouldn't I?"
Well I see I've rambled on for quite a bit here so I'll give it a rest. All in all though it's been an interesting day! And Fun!
Bill
BTW the kilt was a Stillwater Standard in the NightStalker (shortened to 22") worn with a dark blue dress shirt, black shoes and black kilt hose.
