    Belts

Oi, I'm cheap and stingy, I admit it.
I wanted to order the Stillwater with a few accesories so I'd have a complete outfit, especially if it's going to be a special-occasions-only outfit...but I HATE to shell out $30 for a belt.

Where can I find a thick belt for cheap? The ironic thing is I'd rather go for a cheap belt, but I don't mind the idea of modifying it with a $45 dollar buckle later...

I looked down here in Mexico for a belt, but they don't have anything over like an inch and a quarter...I did pick up a sweet shirt that will do just dandy for semi-formal wear...

Just google kilt belts. Probably not going to find a lot for under $30, but I did notice an embossed celtic leather belt that appeared to be 2.25" wide at kiltstore.net for about $23.

    stillwater belt

The adjustable belt stillwater sells is both wide and thick, although the buckle is a bit too "chrome" looking for my tastes. The celtic knot pattern is unobtrusive but a nice touch. It's worth the price I think and the added bonus is that it's MADE so that the buckles can be swapped if you have different ones for different occasions.

Check your local hardware store for a wide leather work belt. Dye it black and you're in like Flint. You can leave it "natural" colored, too, if you want a brown belt.

Think the price is ballpark what you don't wanna pay but AmeriKilt has a very good belt, great value for me. Comes in black. You can ask for, and get brown.

Walmart carries a nice 1.75" wide leather belt that looks good with my USA kilt as well as my UK Survival. Black or Brown, sort of Pebbled finish with a brushed nickle buckle. It won't accept a large buckle but it keeps the look simple yet rugged. The price is only $11.00. I actually bought two and am trying to make a sporran strap from the second. I expect the Belt sporran and strap to look very similar.

I couldn't find it on Walmarts site but it looks similar to this but with a textured finish.

    Hey Toad,
If you are looking for a brown belt, check this one out. I got one and it fits the bill nicely.

As far as sporran straps (if you are wanting the ones without the chains) check this out. Can't go wrong for the price! Although I hope the white one won't get used!
