    An Apology

Over in the thread on military kilts I used the term REMF.If anyone thought it was rude, offensive or bothered by it then I offer an apology. No offense was meant or intended.

No apology needed far as I'm concerned. It's a pretty well known term and I've used it often enough myself. ;)

That's an honorable thing to do!

It didn't bother me in the least, and it's really a common term for some.

Why be ashamed of using the standard name for Remington Rangers?

No offense taken (it takes a lot to offend me). I've used the term myself, although I was one (and still am a civilian one).

REMF = "Rear Echelon Military Forces"

that's the nice way of putting it. use your imagination for the more vulgar way of putting it by substituting "military forces" for something else.

its a term that was originally used derisively by troops "in the bush" for those who weren't on the front lines.

nowadays, people understand a bit more that those who were in the rear lines were actually contributing to the wear effort. it can, however, be taken as an insult by some depending on who is using it and how they mean it.

You gotta love the playful hostility in the military.

Whenever someone would "Pass Gas" we would usually respond,to the annoyance of any officer around, "Keep yelling sir, we'll find you!"
