Any Kilt Nights in New York City?
I'm suprised doesn't have a kilt night. I think a lot of the Kilted folks have moved out to the suburbs.

Bbraat - you could be right. I'm an NYC-burbanite. But take heart, you aren't alone!! At least I work in the Apple.
I haven't been on XMarks for too long a time but there seems to be a disproportionately small population of the kilted in our area. Go figure. Even at the Long Island Highland Games in Old Westbury there weren't a lot of folk kilted -- especially compared to a smaller event like the Round Hill Games in CT where quite a few guys were appropriately attired. The guys and gals at the UK tent (LI games) said business was pretty slow compared to other events they'd attended.
I've yet to see a kilt night for NYC posted here. Maybe we need to create our own... I see on their website that 'Enter the Haggis" (http://www.enterthehaggis.com) is coming to NYC on December 2nd -- a Friday -- to perform at Paddy Reilly's on 2nd Ave/29th St. Whaddya tink?

I don't own my own kilt. I've rented it in the past but I don't know if I can get a hold of a kilt by next Friday. I'll check with the agency.

Hey guys, there's a couple ways to get one going easily. First, look on the Barleyjuice site to see when we're in the NYC area. We play on Long Island and at Rocky Sullivan's often, and always have a nice kilted crowd.
You can also look on the site for Shillelagh Law to see where they're at. They're local to NYC and are good friends. You show-up in a kilt and you'll be the hit of the gig. Make sure to introduce yourself to the fiddler, Dennis, and let him know that I sent you. It's good for a pint.
Keep an eye on the Philly Kilt Nights since some are well within your range for travel. We've had some in Allentown, North Jersey, the Shore, and Staten Island.
Arise. Kill. Eat.

ETH at Paddy Reilly's in NYC this Friday night
Thanks Jimmy - I'll keep my eyes peeled. Good luck with your winter recording.
For anyone who's interested "Enter the Haggis" - a rock band out of Toronto with an interesting Celtic/bluegrass sound - will be at Paddy Reilly's Music Bar tomorrow night. Haven't been there myself as far as I recall. It's at 519 Second Ave btwn 28 & 29th St. Phone 212-686-1210. First set may start around 9:00 PM. $7 cover.
I'm hoping to get there for a real break in what passes for my routine. Stumbling block: my spouse and her battle with a really bad cold. Either she'll be with me or I'll see about fighting my way clear :-D I wonder if my Ottawa Senators jersey will go with my Black Stewart kilt???
ETH is a little in the vein of Seven Nations. Check out the MP3s and/or videos on their site (www.enterthehaggis.com) to get a taste. I tried it and I liked it.
