    Finally ordered a jacket

My daughters upcoming wedding has both motivated me and given me the excuse I needed to order a jacket.

I decided on a fairly plain jacket from Scottishkilts, I liked their product, their price, and I know their service is good.
Now these are the people I bought a kilt pin from, later lost it, so they sent another free of charge. It wasn't their fault even! Now that is going the second mile!

So I've ordered the jacket below, plus a scottish lion kilt pin and matching charcoal grey hose.
I don't yet have a semi formal sporran to wear.

(Hamish?) What do you think of matching jacket and hose?
What colour tie should I wear? same as the photo?

I think matching the jacket and hose would look fine. As far as the tie, I would match it to the dominant color of the kilt, and would have the flashes match that as well.

I just got a charcoal colored kilt jacket. I wore it to my son's choir concert last night for the first time, with matching hose that I already had. It was a big annual concert with choirs from several schools. If I'd had a light shirt in a color that went with the kilt, I'd have worn that, but I wore a black watch kilt, so I wore a white shirt. No tie to match any flashes, so I wore a black tie and green flashes. A bit much for Texas still, even in September, but it was evening, and I think it's good to dress up for special events. Shows the kids you care. There were some people dressed like real slobs there.

I too have been looking at those charcoal hose. As soon as my wife's labour dispute is over, I will be shopping with a venegance. Glad to hear you went with the Scottishkilts jacket (same as mine), it's a great product. Did David have any other weights in material?

    Graham,

That is one fine looking jacket!

Now if you shave your beard, would you look like that chap?

Or grow some muttenchops and comb them over

I am sure you'll look more the part than the model. He looks uncomfortable in Highland attire.

Glen!! I've not removed my beard since I grew it at the age of 18, 35 years ago. I'm not going to start now!!
Besides. I'm already better looking than the model

I know what you mean Graham. I've had my beard for 11 years now and don't plan to shave it. It's just another symbol of our individuality.

By the way, I've got the same jacket. I just haven't had the occasion to wear it yet.

    That's a nice-looking jacket.

Here's a thought... I've always followed Hamish's advice and not worn a tartan tie with a kilt, leving the kilt, as he put it, to get all the glory. But with a three button jacket like that one (most are one or two-button) and a five button waistcoat, not that much tie actually shows, and there's a lot of jacket/waistcoat between the kilt ant the tie. With all that separation, I might be tempted to wear a tie in the same tartan as the kilt.

    Just a thought.

Did you purchase the waistcoat to go with the jacket? It looks smart, Graham.

That's a great jacket. It should serve you well for all sorts of occasions.

I agree with Alan. A tie in matching tartan would look good, especially with a waistcoat.
