Utilikilts has been getting quite a bit of press lately, & while I personally prefer "tanks," UK seems to be giving the wearing of kilts the positive air it deserves. Sherry

Show some leg, spare us the
belly

It's kilt time. Someone please tell the kids.

We officially endorse the Utilikilt, an increasingly popular garment for men, as the next big thing. Utilikilt inventor and Seattle store owner Steven Villegas already sells about 12,000 of them a year. The un-pants are made with tough fabric and have such accessories as cargo pockets and a hammer loop. They are worn around the waist (not the lower hips) and often with a belt. They hit right below the knee.

Wearers love the freedom of movement and the ability to stay cool.

We love the fact that the kilts actually cover areas that need to be covered and still are considered edgy attire. (Of course it's edgy for boys, less so for girls. But if girls are wearing a kilt, rather than a skirt, hey, that's edgy too).

Kilts are loose, but not baggy. They do not reveal intended, or unintended, rear views so pervasive with the ever-popular hip hugger pants and/or the baggy jeans. Forgive us our curmudgeonly attitude, but enough with showing off your stomach, pudgy or in need of a sandwich, it doesn't matter which. We've seen enough. We've seen enough lower back tattoos, too. Many of us lived through the "fashions" of the '70s and we just want you to be able to look at some of your youthful photos without cringing.

So kilt up, kids. Show some leg for a change of pace.postamble(); http://heraldnet.com/stories/05/10/0...itorial002.cfm
