More on the Kidder, Buzz variety
So...I'm trying to decide on my next kilt. It'll be awhile before I can make a casual, so I was trying to decide between BuzzK, UK, and AK.
My Stillwater (bless it's traditional cut heart) irons out quite nicely. All I need is a large flat surface so I can spread it out, and then I run a warm iron over it.
Now. Somebody in some thread said that BK's wrinkle a bunch...but to iron them, which I don't mind doing, do I need to go to the trouble of ironing each individual pleat, or can I just lay the whole kilt flat, smooth it so that every lies perfectly flat, and then run an iron over the whole thing like I do with my SWK?
The same question about AK and UK, as well as how MUCH do they wrinkle after being in the wash?
I love this forum because it is collection of very helpful people.

Only have the four AmeriKilts, which don't wrinkle when I hang dry them with weighted clips on the pleat seams.
Saw a BK at Highland games and the display model they had was very wrinkled...poor salesmanship....don't know who the staff was in the BK booth but they seemed uninterested in much of anything.
No info on Stilwater.
Check my thread on the new SportKilts on the contemporary kilts forum...happy with the new ones if they're sewn down etc....extra bucks though.

Buzz Kidder
I have a Buzz Kidder and am very satisfied with its appearance and durability.
I wear it when I compete in highland games.

BK Canvas Kilt
Got one I purchased from Matt, used, so I can only address the canvas type. It does wrinkle so I find it best to wear when I know I'm going to be standing more than sitting. Also I find the pleat tips curl if you sit a lot. It is great for hiking or a walk in the woods, the canvas is tough. Ironing usually isn't a problem, one or two pleats may have to be pressed out. Steam works really well, wrinkles drop out pretty well. It has become a second to my PK for casual wear.

I've only ironed one of my UKs and that was for a wedding. I have the putty AK and mine is a cotton duc or canvas like material. It wrinkles like crazy, the pleats curl all over the place and after 10 or 12 washings, it's still stiff. I did wear it doing some home improvement (i.e. not sitting) and it's one tough kilt. I think I have a workmans without hammer loops. My SWKs are my best behaved kilts, they never wrinkle and almost always look good.
