Blackwatch Tartan
I remember reading on a prior thread that an Irish pub was not the place to wear your blackwatch kilt because it might end up in upsetting some of the patrons, and end up in you picking your teeth up off of the floor. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Because members of the Black Watch have been part of the occupation of Northern Ireland. Not all of them have acted admirably.

Bob,
Some of this is due to the confusion between the Black Watch and the Black and Tans, a auxillary police force of the Royal Irish Constabulary, that was known for committing atrocities during the Anglo-Irish War (1919-1922). The Black and Tans, so named because they wore a mixture of British Army and RIC uniforms (and resembled the colours of a popular hunting hound) were not part of the British Army, although many were First World War veterans who were unemployed in the depression in the UK after the war.

Todd

While some folks may have this confusion, the Black Watch, regardless of the brave and noble acts they may have performed elsewhere, are well known as having also committed their share of atrocities during the 'Troubles'.
