Are these people nuts???
Saw this Black Original Utilikilt show up on eBay a few days ago and decided to watch it. Just checked and it is up over $150 and still over 4 days left in the auction. A new one only goes for $125!! I don't understand
shakes head and walks away perplexed

I know what you mean. UK's are FREQUENTLY selling on ebay for more than their retail price. When I was planning to sell my Survival I watched several others go for more than retail. I ended up selling mine for a small profit which allowed me the purchase of the PK Forest MarPat and some left over to pay down the credit cards . All I can figure is that demand is exceeding the supply and lead time.

From the e-bay add
you could have exactly the kilt you want....without waiting 6 months to a year for Utilikilt to get caught up on their backlogs, or fill custom orders!
From Utilikilts.com
Please Note: If your kilt is not in stock, we will make one for you. Because our kilts are hand made, making a kilt for you can take up to 6-8 weeks.
I guess if you are looking for a utilikilt and don't go to the website perhaps you think he is right and that you would have to wait a year for one?

Also, with this being denim, it's actually $148 for UK, and at that size (41" waist), add on another $10. So, you're still in the ballbark with that auction. And folks are always adding that "don't wait 6months, blah blah blah". I've got 4 UK's and have never waited longer than a week, but maybe I'm just lucky.

KT,
Thanks for pointin that out about the denim. I did not catch that on UK's site, although, I am going to go out on a limb and guess that this baby is probably going to go for something in the $175 range, given where it is now and the time left for the auction. I guess that is not too bad if you really are jonesing bad for one and it is in your size, but would not tempt me.

I think they're wrong about the denim. It says denim twill, and looking at the one close-up, it doesn't look like the denim UKs that I saw up close; it looks more like an original.
...and I agree, the bidders are crazy!

I've seen this phenomenon quite frequently on ebay. I wonder if there is a term for it - like ebayitis or something.
And don't forget that you still have to pay shipping on top of it. Personally, I won't pay more than about 2/3 of an item's new cost when I'm doing an ebay bid.

I've been making tons of money on ebay buying items at circuit city, staples, etc that have rebates, then selling them on ebay.
I just bought a wireless mini mouse at circuit city, it was $25 with $20 in rebates, costing me $5. I just sold it on ebay for $20.
Ok, I see the whole "I dont wanna wait for the rebate, and it's $5 cheaper than buying it myself" thing... but they have to pay shipping! $20 + shipping is like $24.85.
And thats not to mention the people paying MORE than retail BEFORE shipping on ebay items.
I've bought stuff, lost the receipt, said bah not worth the argument trying to return it just ebay it, and have gotten bids for more than I paid for the item.
Ebay makes people insane.
