Leather Treatment for my Freelander Sporran?
Hey David, I tried PMing this to you, but you box is full!
I'm still deciding what I'm going to do about a strap for the Sporran - picked up a book on leather braiding to see if I can do what I've got pictured in my head - but while I'm deciding, something else has occured to me.
Is the leather treated in some way to make it liquid resistant? Would it benifit from an application of mink-oil or some other similar leather treatment so that it doesn't soak up anything that it may come in contact with? Got any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff

I follow Rudi's suggestion for smooth leather and apply Vaseline now and then. Rub it in well and the leather will sparkle!
I got so wet today while walking in the pouring rain, the inside apron of my poly/wool kilt was wet. My Freelander Sporran was very dry, though. The untreated leather sleeves of my team jacket were soaked through.

Sorry about that I'll empty it . I've not tried vaseline. Mink oil is ok or maybe Nikwax liquid. On a black sporran it won't matter much but on a brown sporran they will darken some. I'll try the valsaline trick sound good as it'll be less smelly
