Very Windy day..
Well, yesterday I had my first experience with a windy day while kilted. And I don't mean just a slightly strong breeze, the wind here was blowing steady at 25-30mph with gusts to 50! About like being in a tropical storm, but without the rain, and a little bit colder as it was about 50 degrees.
Anyway, took my daughters to the mall to play and get some lunch. Knowing it was windy I wore my newest (and heaviest!) kilt, a 16oz PV puchased off eBay. Getting the girls out of the truck, and into the stroller for the walk into the mall was not too bad, and I was wearing a slightly longer coat. Had the front apron fly up and the kilt pin got hung up on the sporran, but no problem, just flipped it back down and was thankful for the underapron.
However, on the way back out of the mall and walking to the vehicle, the wind had picked up. I was walking pretty much into the wind pushing a double wide stroller that has a huge surface area. Good thing I am as big as I am or we might have been stuck at the mall until the wind died down!
At one point I had to turn and walk between the parked vehicles to get over to the row where mine was parked. As I got between the 2 cars, the wind picked up from the rear, and with the funnel effect of the cars, I am sure that I answered the question for anybody following me! Luckily the wind had just gusted and the pleats came right back down.
So to finish up the afternoon, we drove over the the local theater and watched the new Chicken Little movie and really enjoyed it. Got some stares in the theater, but no comments. A good day out!

I think I"ve just been lucky, so far. I've yet to have a ventilating experience in the wind, but I'm sure my time is coming!

I too have never had problems with the wind until I hit the area where I am about to enter my vehicle, watch out!!

So far I've not had trouble with the wind. It's my co-workers with leaf blowers that I have to watch out for.

Ah...yes...this past Sunday! Forty-odd mile an hour winds! And after wearing my SWK Nightstalker on Friday night and Saturday night how could I resist throwing it back on on Sunday to go to my parents' for Sunday dinner and to see just how much wind is too much.
And I'd like to report that, thanks in no small measure to my pewter kilt pin from Ram's Horn and the 2 and 1/2 inch diameter SOX button that my daughter made and which I have been wearing ever since the playoffs, the question remains unanswered. Windy city my @$$!
But did you see that field goal attempt in the Bears game that was blown off course, caught by Nate Vasher and returned 108 yards for a touchdown?
Woo-Hoo!

Interesting timing on this post!
We're getting a blast of winter weather today, with very strong north winds. I have the day off and am sitting around in my original UK. I decided to go out on the back deck to get a load of firewood. I'm pretty sure my neighbours across the alley now know the answer to the question. It's very difficult to keep your pleats in check when your arms are full. I'm sure if I'd been wearing my heavy Irish National traditional I'd have been better off. LOL

Al, you are getting the cold stuff we are scheduled to get on Wednesday. That should be my first day wearing a kilt at 20 degrees with a high of only 35! Oh yay!

Auld, I missed the game, realtives in town and taking the kids to the movies took up most of my day. I have to salute you for going out in the SWK Nightstalker! There is really not much weight to that fabric, glad you had some anchors to keep it down in the front, but how about the back?

Cold? How about this shot...Jazzkilts (where is he now?) and I outside an Irish pub in Calgary, December 2004. If memory serves me right, it was -27C outside that night with a light wind. -27C works out to -17F. I think Jazzkilts was wearing a Pittsburgh Kilt, while mine was a pv 4-yard Bear Kilt. BBBbbbbrrrrrrrrrr!

Al, I assume you only stood there long enough for that picture!
What weight is the Bear PV? A bit concerned when the cold weather gets here, so if Bear's PV is in 13oz - 16oz PV, then I will feel better. Maybe not warmer, but better!
Now if Jeff just finishes up the 2 lined PK kilts I ordered, I will be styling for the winter.
