Rock Bottom Kilt Night - PA

The Rock Bottom bar in King of Prussia PA, on Nov 30th is having a beer un-tapping and a kilt contest!!!

The following is from an Email I received today:

"As a valued member of Rock Bottom - King of Prussia's mug club we wanted to give you an update of some of the exciting events that we are holding during November.

November 30th we will be tapping our Naughty Scot Ale. The evening will be topped with a special Kilt contest. Please call Casey at the KOP Rock Bottom for more information and to sign up for the contest."

I plan on attending ... and was hoping that I could get a few others to join me. They probably have absolutely no idea how many kilted men are in the Philly area!

For more info on Rock Bottom in King of Prussia go to:

Hope to see you there ....

NICE! Count Kelly and I in!

Rock Bottom used to be host to MANY an "impromptu" kilt night. The head bouncers (Burt and Bob... at least they USED to be the head bouncers) used to wear kilts and Bob was even a Sportkilt rep at one point!

    What time are the festivities?

Screw the contest... I'm a sucker for Scotch Ale. I was going to wear the kilt anyway. ;-)

    Bump

Just a reminder ... Nov 30th Wed Evening 7PM at Rock Bottom in King of Prussia PA - Untapping of the 'Naughty Scot Ale' by brewmaster, Jon Thomas. Kilt wearing is highly encouraged and down right expected.

Called them and they said that it looks like quite a crowd is expected!!! See you there.

Hmm...This sounds like a good time...Barring any unforeseen homework assignments...I'll try and make the drive! Had fun last time I went out with ya, Brian, wouldn't mind seein' ya and the kilted gang again!

Well it seems that I don't have enough gas in the car to make the drive, and not enough cash in the bank to fill the tank! Oh, well...another time, perhaps.

Sorry we missed you Sav - was a nice evening. The bar was busy, but not crazy and there were quite a few kilts there as well. The Naughty Scot Ale was a nice dark brown, almost black ale with a nice bite and a smooth sweet finish. The Brew master said that they used brown sugar in the fermentation process to give it that sweet aftertaste. I liked it, but after two or three of those I was ready for a nice light Guinness Draft :-)

As the RockBottom is in a major shopping mall (King of Prussia Mall), I'm sure more than a few of the holiday shopping patrons had no idea why all these men in kilts were there, but everyone was quite friendly and a number of pictures were being taken, and questions asked. Hopefully Rocky and USA Kilts picked up some business as several patrons approached to ask where I bought my kilt and were dutifully directed over to Rocky.

They even had a kilt contest and the winner was to receive $100 cash. The crowd voted via the 'applause meter' and it ended up being a tie between two contestants. One of the contestants donated his $50 share to 'Toys For Tots', and RockBottom matched his $50. That was pretty cool. If I had won I would have just bought more beer! :-)

All in all a good night to expand the power of the kilt to the uneducated masses!
