A hello from Atlanta
Just a note to say hello. My name is Dave, and I'm getting ready to compete in several Highland Games. Of course, this is how I found this site. I've read several posts, and I feel the help offered is outstanding. As soon as I am able, I will be getting a Kilt w/ the Robertson Hunting tartan. If I am unable to get that tartan, I might go with the Black Watch tartan. I am with Clan Robertson, I like the hunting tartan because of color ( my H.S. colors were blue and green) . Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!
THanks,
CaberDave

Greetings from a northern Robertson and welcome aboard.
Of the two Robertson tartans, the Hunting is my preferred also.
You may have seen these, but for a couple of interesting connections between the Black Watch and Hunting Robertson tartans, check here and here.
If you're looking at getting a 8 yd wool kilt, you can get a good deal at the KiltStore with the 18% XMarks discount (ends January 18th). For a 4 yd wool kilt, take a look at McRok.com - there's a 20% off coupon that ends December 31st, I can find the coupon code if you're interested. I used it and just bought a 4 yd 10 oz (sport kilt weight) in Robertson Hunting Ancient for $275. The Red Robertson is the only one of the two available in poly-vicose, so you'll probably want Black Watch - check with MacHummel at Canadian Casual Kilts, Rocky at USA Kilts, or Bear at BearKilts.com; all members here. MacHummel doesn't have a web site, but his 4-5 yd kilts start at $ 180 CAD (waiting for my Red Robertson, Pete!).
Can you tell I've thought about this a lot?;-)
