    The Tipsy Laird

Well, I have mentioned that I have turned my garage into a Scottish pub in the past, but only Hamish, Raphael, Bear, and Dave W. have actually seen it (excluding regular visitors of course). The story is that one of my neighbors moved to Canada from London (originally from Mauritus) and turned his basement into an English pub (The London Bobby). So a few of us other folks in the neighborhood have also added pubs to our units. We have an English pub, a Scottish pub, a Sports bar, a cafe, and an Irish pub is in the works. We can now do a pub crawl without spending a dime and without the use of a vehicle.

Anyhow, here are a few pictures of the Tipsy Laird:

    Whisky selection
view 1 showing the tartan wall, whisky bar, chess set, etc
    rock wall and security system

All are welcome and the price of admission is a dram of malt, a fine cigar, or a six pack of guinness or tennents

    Some more pics

Ignore the winter insulation will ya ;-)
the rock wall is simply wallpaper that my wife found and added.
This sign was in front of my grandparents cottage (and later home). It was the one thing that I took when we sold the place after my grandmother passed away. It had to go in the pub.

What a great idea. I wish I had that many Celtic friends around in my neighborhood to start one. If I had to "crawl" to my closest friends (MacDonald) it would be uphill throught the woods. Coming home would be easier except for the trees. I have found that coming home from MacDonald's after a few wee drams I have problems with the trees moving about and trying their darndest to trip me!

Great looking fun pub you've got there.

    The Tipsy Laird...

Brilliant, Colin! The "Tipsy Laird" looks just grand! Now all you need is a pub sign!

Yet ANOTHER reason to visit BC!

The pub sign is on the "to do list" I have a rough sketch, but haven't painted it out yet.

Well now, if you're bringing the Craggenmore I had better stock up the whisky bar a bit more. A friend is spending Christmas in Alberta and is bringing me back a bottle of Oban and Macallan's.

That's what I love about the internet. Everytime I forget about some great idea I had in the past, someone posts something to remind me of it.

I hadn't thought of the English pub approach though. It looks like you did it right! Except, I just set fire to the price of admission. Guess I'll have to restock my humidor.

Thanks for sharing the pics and starting the fermentation of ideas!

Since the drive will take a while from here to there, not sure how much, if any, of the bottle will be left when I get there, especially since the wife likes it too

How cool is that, Colin! You've just given me a great idea on what to do with our basement when we finally start to renovate. I see a private Irish pub in the future. 8-)

Everyone should have a nice place to retreat. This is the only "room" in the house that isn't full of toys. After all I should respect BC law and not admit anyone under 19 ;-)
