Howdy from another in SE Texas
Hi, All,
My name is Matt, and I live in Beaumont, Texas. Before now, the only times I've worn a "kilt" was as a costume for Halloween or to the Renessaince Festival, and both those times it was made from a plaid flannel bedsheet! Last month I finally was able to order a black original Utilikilt and it arrived fairly quickly. I was able to wear it for the first time to my wife's family dinner at Thanksgiving. That was greeted by a few stares and eyerolls, and a few "Cool! Where can I get one?"
I completely missed that yesterday was St. Andrew's Day, and so I'm wearing my UK today as a belated celebration. My wife and I walked thru WalMart earlier this morning and she noticed a few stares and smiles from folks we passed; I was trying to maintain the attitude of "I do this everyday, I'm not embarassed," even tho I did feel a little flushed. (That could have been because I was wearing a light fleece jacket with the UK, and the temp was already in the mid 60s.) The wife's alread mentioned she wants to eat lunch at Bennigan's (an chain of Irish- themed pubs and grills, FYI), so there's another chance to get out and about, even look like I belong there!

Welcome to the group
Welcome to the group, Wal-Mart is a fun place to go kilted. You are right though the more confident you are the less comments come your way. I always like to hear from my wife the comments that she hears while we are out.

Welcome ... In my experience, a Kilt at Wal-Mart is the LEAST distracting thing you'll see there ... I'm talking about the Spandex Queens .... :-)

Welcome Matt.
Hey, no fair. I ordered my UK in Oct. and I'm still waiting. If you spend too much time here all your overtime money will disappear.
