First Kilt
Got my first kilt, USAK causal in Modern Gunn. I wore it to my parents house for sunday dinner. Mother (the scot of the family) and sister loved it, my father asked why I would wear a kilt. Told dad because I wanted to, he seemed to accept the answer, but did ask later what color panties one wears under there. He got a big laugh when I replied Fur.
On the trip home I stopped by the Kangaroo Express for a pouch of RedMan. Two gentlemen in the place, I said hello to each, they responed the same. Got back to the truck and asked my wife what their reaction was after I had past (the entire front is windows), she said that the guy just hanging out by the door never took his eye off me, and the guy talking to the clerk just resumed his conversation with the clerk after I completed my purchase.
Not much of a first time out, but it went well; I guess.

Oh yes the first time kilted, well done Steeplechase.
I have noticed that the stares are stares of jealousy, that 1 either they want one. or 2 that they would have enough intestinal fortitude to proceed wearing something out of the norm.

Welcome, my friend. My first kilt was also a Gunn, but it was Ancient Colours (much nicer in my opinion!!!!). It was tailored for me in Aberdeen in 1973, was my only kilt for 27 years, still fits me and still looks like new - although I had the straps replaced about fifteen years ago!
You do realise, I hope, that you will not be able to hold back as I did, for 27 years, before acquiring several more kilts?!! ;)

Congrats on your first kilt. Seeing peoples reactions is just one of the many benefits of being kilted.

Congrats!
The first time out kilted is always a bit nerve-wracking, but it does get easier.

Congratulations on the first kilt! And I love your response to your Dad's question!

Congrats on the Gunn Modern. That's what my DH wears.
I do find the Gunn Ancient more distinctive with pleasant colors, but you can wear either proudly.
Good answer for your dad, too!
