"Disruption is a pretty subjective concept... in any of these cases, has the term ever been defined?

Maybe school uniforms are the answer... and perhaps even a bit of 1950s British style school discipline.

I have 5 children (all grown up) all had to have school uniform ! and when I went to school dare I say in the 50/60's schools had no problems with dress, as you say "a bit of 1950s British style school discipline" would not go a miss

Uniforms are the answer all right. Kilt, with shirt and tie.

And the odd flogging would doubtless help as well.

This has little or nothing to do with kilts...I appreciate their statement/protest though.

Don't think so, Derek.... this is a fashion freedom story and won't resonate with Scots and their ilk the same as the Warmack case.

Ok, the dress code may need to be amended or, as the article suggests, enforced equally but this one won't fly.

To quote: "The two friends — Richard Mayotte, 17, and Dustin Christal, 16 — wore the kilts as a protest because they feel some students, especially girls, get by with dress code violations."

If this is the truth of the situation it takes it out of the realm of fashion or clothing to intentional disruption. Should that be the case I gotta stand with the school on this one.

    Mike
