    Sporran dimensions

Could someone give me the dimensions for a "standard" , non-formal sporran? I have some buffalo hide (thats Bison for you over the pond cousins) and I'm going to make one shortly. Only problem is colour, which is standard tan. Wouldn't want to step on any toes, dontcha know. ;)

    Sporran dimensions?

I'm not sure there is any specific set of "standard" dimensions for a non-formal sporran. Thompson's "So You're Going to Wear the Kilt" gives dimensions, but they seem a bit too small to me. I recently made a skunk sporran for my future son-in-law that was less wide than the ones I made for my son and I. Scot is thin and not short and wide, so I thought it best to make one that would 'fit' with him. Often, if I'm working with a pelt I let it tell me what size it wants to be—that work's pretty well.

Well, the wife and I just hit the local Hospial Ladies Aux. used clothing place and I picked up a couple of purses. One brown, one black with nice long straps. They will be converted shortly into sporrans. Rip 'em apart and sew 'em back up...after some serious design changes. ;) Cost me all of $0.50.

I really must get a digital once the xmas bills disappear.

I have ove of the basic black sporrans from Stillwater and a Rob Roy. The stillwater is 7x7 and the other is less than 1/2 an larger. Hope this helps. If you want to copy a Freelander, any size large enough to hold a small child will do. :-D
