    2006 Stillwater Irish National

I received my 2006 Stillwater Irish National today. This is one beautiful kilt. The colors are stunning and the fit is perfect. Kudos to Stillwater on making this beautiful tartan available at a reasonalble price. If you are waiting on one, I believe that you will love it.

I'm waiting on a kilt pin (sword with the Kennedy Crest) that I will be wearing with the kilt. My grandfather on my mother's side was John M. Kennedy, and I have Kennedy as my middle name in honor of my grandfather.

    three new arrivals...

My SWK Irish National arrived yesterday. That is 3 new kilts in less than 6 days (2 USAK and the SWK). I will be posting pictures of all this weekend. The SWK is nice, but the materials and craftsmanship of the USAK is leaps and bounds above the SWK. The SWK is quite nice, though, especially considering the price and the turnaround. I guess this is an apples to oranges comparison, though...

What kind of kilts do you buy from USAK?

The two recent deliveries from USAK are:

A 5 yard wool Irish County Crest for Laois (Marton Mills):

The second is a semi-traditional Ireland's National (also Marton Mills):

The swatches above do NOT do justice to the actual kilts.

The kilts pictured on the site are the old style Irish National economy and standard. I believe when they are gone, they are gone. The home page still states:
We have a batch of 2006 Irish National Tartan™ standard kilts ready to ship. We have not yet taken photos, and they are not in the store, E-mail us if you want one.
The only 2006 they have in Irish National is the standard.

I got my 2006 yesterday. That is one very bright green compare to the other casual kilt I got from Clansman. On the otherhand the matching flyplaid really completes the enseme. The braided fringe was a little difficult getting used to but now I love it. It took some one a long time to make all the braids. :-P
