    Getting higher rank messages

Are they really necessary? Every time I log in I first click the "New Messages" search. Now there was at least a dozen of "He get to the regiment..." and so on messages. Soon it's really hard to spot the really interesting ones. It's nice to remember but... I personally don't see need for a message when I get higher rank... You can disagree but just my point of view. I see them unecessary.

As you get higher rankings, there are higher requirements for the next level.

These messages are encouragements to the newer members, and cheers for those of us that are steadfast.

Yes, it's quite busy, but it will slow down.

Besides 30 more posts and you'll be graduated!

I agree with Ackwell. All this is doing is making people focus on their post counts - a complaint I've seen on other forums before. People that focus on the quantity of their posts, rather than the quality of their posts, will risk suffering from that well known disease, DOTM ("diarrhea of the mouth"). ;)

Strange as it may sound Ackwell I agree with you. I too like to stress quality of the posts as opposed to quantity of posts, but I do feel that at times I need not be so focused on the intensity of posting, but to also have fun, and not think so much of myself (I do way too much of that).

Just look at which forum it's in and skip Celebration Zone messages. It's been a bit out of hand lately but the new will wear off.

Personally I don't post, just to post.

All these things can be overused. Just like anything there are good reasons for doing this, but it can easily get overused.

Maybe we can acknowledge them, but lock it for keeping posts down.

I love the fact that all the posts in the Celebration Zone don't actually count towards a member's post count

I agree with you though Ackwell. I am finding it hard to find the quality posts buried within all the "way to go posts". I think it's great that some people are having fun, but it seems to be becoming a competition. Maybe Bubba's right and it's just the "new-ness" of that forum.

However when we start celebraing new kilt hose in celebratory post we will have likely gotten a bit out of hand.

Competing in post count is a very stupid thing. You are never going to catch Graham anyway! Can't you just admit your defeat!? ;)

I fully agree with you Ackwell.

The Posting Competition can get out of control, but that is not the idea behind this area.

The Forum is to promote wearing Kilts, and create bonds between all of us. Just as your recent post, where you asked us to respond to a personal area in your life, there are bonds that can be created.

This is a new section, and right now all are having fun with it.

It will settle down, or Hank will determine that some of it needs to change!

Our opinions and observations are welcome, without ridicule.

BTW - I don't remember if I wished you a Happy Birthday!
