    Stillwater Question

What kind of adjustability is there in Stillwater Kilts? What would the actual range on a size 46 be?

Stillwaters have a pretty good range of about + or - one full size.

Just email Jerry and ask how they're sized, at the tightest hole in the strap or at a middle hole.

My new Stillwater is a 34, which happens to be my normal waist size. There are 4 holes on the straps, I have mine buckled on the second tightest one and it fits perfectly.

    According to the SWK site:

Size is determined on our kilts with the buckles fastened at their tightest position. This means a 34" will go up to about 35.5"

Funny - My pants say 34's the tape says 36 - and my Stillwater is a 38. I could have gone with the 36 - it would have stretched I think - but Barb advised me to see if the under apron showed - a bad thing. It did so 38 it is for me. If anything I'll have the buckles and strap moved about 1 inch... Or I could just pack on some weight...

From my experience they tend to be just a touch on the large side. I recently bought a 38 heavyweight (to fit my 39.99 waist) and had to have the straps relocated a little to tighten it up.

BTW, the seamstress has had the kilt for 17 days now, and she tells me that I'll have it back this week modified as follows: relocate buckles, loose third strap, open the pleats 2 inches, properly cut out the excess material in the pleats (big job), add two hidden pockets (ALA Pittsburgh Kilts which I supplied an example of as a model), and add one under apron pocket. The total cost for all of this is going to be about $75.

As soon as I have it I'll use the digital camera my lovely wife just gave me and post up a full set of pics.

I find that Stillwaters tend to run a bit bigger than expected based off the size listed.
