Taken about 1982, very traditional then, same kilt as in my first attempt at posting a photo, it certainly has lasted a few years. My best friends name - Marque.

Maybe an old photo, but it just goes to show how timeless the Kilt really is. Great shot!

McRod,
What a great photograph. I have a 4-month old purebred GSD (or, Alsatian) named Regan and can't wait for her mature. She's adorable and troublesome now but will be a magnificent beauty and loyal companion when she's fully grown. I'll have to mimick your artistry and get a shot of her with me in a kilt. Again, a great photo and thanks for sharing.

I have to admit that to get Marque to sit in that position i had a wee treat in my hand. He was a great mate, friendly and very protective at the same time

I lost my Shepherd this past July. She was a great dog, and like you said, friendly but very protective of me.

I chose Regan from the litter because of her sex and because of how much she resembles the GSD I had previously (nearly all black and also female). This is my fiance's first experience with a GSD, but she seems to have fallen in love with Regan as I thought she might very well do.
A huge part of why we got a GSD (Regan is 4 months as of yesterday) was because I had one when I was young and I really enjoy the breed more than any other. The GSD I had as a child was named "Grumpy" simply because from birth on she had that kind of a look on her face (from her markings)...she always looked angry. You can imagine how intimidating she appeared to strangers and other dogs. She was very protective of and lovable with our family but if you weren't someone she knew...
When Grumpy reached adulthood, she grew very heavy (after being "fixed") and her weight peaked at 135 pounds (way too heavy for the breed). Fortunately, Grumpy lived to the ripe old age of 12, which is a good stretch for a GSD. I still miss her and I'm sorry to hear of anyone else losing their dog.
Anyway, we plan to breed Regan when she's ready but I really can't see charging anyone the price we paid for her---buying a purebred can be very expensive these days, even if the dog is only for companion use. Show dogs, of course, are outrageous in price depending on the breed but we have no intention of showing Regan (although my fiance used to show Boxers in the past). We know Regan's beautiful and she's "Best in Show" to us...that's all that really matters.
Here's 2 pics of Regan (first is at 2 months, second is from this past Saturday when the snow storm began):

MacSimon, those pics bring back fond memories, She looks a whole lot like Nikita, My shepherd that died in July at only 6 years old.
