    Hunting Fraser with PC Coat

I broke the news to my wife that I will be buying a traditional wool kilt in my family tartan. While not thrilled, she asked that I at least wait till we have sold the house we are in and moved to a new one. This will hopefully happen in the next few months so I agreed.

Down to business...While I like the red tartans worn with the black coats, I'm not sold on the Fraser Red since I will undoubtedly want to wear it in more casual and less formal times and the Fraser Red seems very red to me. I really like the Fraser Hunting but I'm wondering if a Primarily Brown kilt will look right with a black PC coat? I've always heard that "brown goes with anything" but is this true when it comes to PC Coats?

That kilt will look just fine under a PC jacket. Go for it.

A good firend has the Ancient Fraser Hunting in a Bear kilt. It is a really nice tartan. I too prefer it to the Red Fraser tartan. The Hunting will look great with a PC and casually. The Fraser Hunting Muted is also really nice.

Here's a few more Fraser options for you as well http://kiltstore.net/sr_swhdr_eightyardkilt.html

Good luck with the sale of your home.

Thanks guys. I will typically wear a bright shirt with blue jeans or an earth tone pant and I think the Hunting will fit better into my day to day wardrobe. But I was unsure if the Hunting tartan would seem like I was wearing blue jeans and a sport coat to a formal event.

I really like all of Hunting variations as well. The Muted and Old Colors really bring the green and blue out a lot more. But it seems easier to find the ancient across all the vendors. I plan to purcahse a shawl for my wife as well at some point and I think the Ancient will allow me to better match the shawl with the kilt if not purchased from the same vendor.

The Fraser red will look great when you wear a PC

When you wear a PC it's full dress, so I think the red is the best choise...hunting wasn't designed for full dress.

Bright colours look stunning when you wear a pc!

Let's see, for 13 oz wool, that would be 80 x 13/16 = 65 pounds. That would be one heck of a "Tank" One could really get their legs in shape, doing 20 or so deep knee bends while wearing one of those 80 yard kilts several times a week.

The Fraser Hunting Tartan looks good with a black jacket, most all of the tartans have some black in them.

I made a Fraser Hunting for a gentleman that was getting married it was a 5yrd and he wore a PC with it I thought it looked nice, then I saw him not to long ago at a pub and he had a nice sweater and it looked great so anything can go with it. It's up to you.

I have a Ancient Fraser Hunting in a Bear kilt that is awsome it is mostly a deep blue, with brown and small red acents. it would be real Nice with a PC, the brown on the PV kilt I have is so deep that it looks almost black. But I have a kinda personal rule to go with a base color and then go all the way with it. I try not to mix Black and brown Or navy and Black. but that might be something to think about.

But it might just be me but I almost go silly try'n to wear a black shirt and brown shoes.
