Inespensive Tartan for those who want to try making a kilt
Fraser and Kirkbright has an 11 ounce light grey/grey/dark blue tartan...no clan, available in polyester/wool blend for the OUTRAGEOUS price of $6 Canadian a meter. You could order 3-4 meters of this stuff and spend less than $25 and then try out making your own kilt without breaking the bank.
Check this URL, and look for the "tartan remnants" link.

For that matter, they have the British Columbia tartan and the RCMP tartans on sale, too.
