    SCOTLANDSHOPDIRECT.com

    Greetings.

    Just wondering what anyone knows about this operation.

    Last month I responded to their 15% off sale (and of course no VAT) and ordered a Blackwatch kilt.

    This "Designed in Scotland" garment soon arrived and I am happy with the quality for the low price I paid and the fact that it's probably made in Vietnam or India. It suit me well alongside my 6 camouflage casuals.

    Here is where the problem comes in. Shortly after its arriving I start getting these emails:

    Subject: ScotlandShopDirect.com - Regarding order 4034 placed on 2006-02-22 02:06:19 by Thomas M Baum Jr
    Date: Mar 26, 2006 6:15 AM
    Dear

    You have made an order number 4034, which was placed on 2006-02-22 02:06:19.

    You have ordered the following items:

    Unfortunately your credit card was declined. There are several reasons what could
    happen:
    - Some details were placed wrongly. It could be CCV2, expiry date or credit card
    number - please call us to confirm those;
    - There is a limit set on your credit card, so you cannot spend more than some amount
    of money daily - you can call your bank to change this limit;
    - Your bank doesn't accept transactions from another countries - you can call your
    bank and tell them to accept transaction from us;
    - There is not enough money on your credit card - you can call us to charge you
    after you have sent money to it.

    You can contact us by calling (+44) 131 225 8118 or by e-mail:
    orders@ScotlandShopDirect.com

    The person, who deals with your order is: Satty

    Best Regards,

    ================================================== ========

    My first thought was that it would have been stupid on THEIR part to ship an order without being paid so I check my Visa statement and the payment was made.

    The order number they reference is not the same as mine. Each email includes a different number.

    I emailed the company and got a form letter in return. I called the USA 202 number on the ORIGINAL confirmation email and its always voicemail.

    Now I am getting worried that my credit card info has been hacked as the emails are coming with my real name on them.

    I get one or two or three a day sometimes.

    Has anyone had this happen to them? Know more about this company?

    I just want the emails to stop and for me to stop having to watch my online statement every day to see if a hacker is running up new home theater equipment on my card

    Thanks
    OE

    Don't know anything about them, but you may want to contact your credit card company and tell them of the issue to cover yourself.

    Whatever you do, get in touch with your credit card company ASAP. One other thing, congrats on the kilt.

    This sounds like a scam. As stated in prior posts, contact your credit card company ASAP. If the balance was paid, I'd contact the seller through their web page, or by telephone, but not by replying to these questionable e-mails, or the number they have provided. If your payment is confirmed and these e-mails didn't originate at the seller, I'd contact the police.

    These people operate under a number of different usernames, gold brotheres, heritage of scotland, the scotland shop etc. they have a huge tartanarama shop on the Royal mile selling cheap souvineers, they are not Scots, and most of the Highland wear is cheap/indian made stuff. I would give these guys a wide berth !!

    Everything Highlander Daz said is true.

    Also, as a point of clarification, what they call "16 oz PV" is NOT the PV the Bear and I use. It's loosely woven stuff from the middle east... NOT Marton Mills PV. I have gotten a sample of it (the "16 oz" stuff... to see what it looked / felt like) and will NOT be using it.
