Well I've gone and done it.
Yep, I'm taking my kilts to the next level and trying to get hired because of them. Here is a link to my new web site, please check it out (look for problems) and let me know what you think.

The only problem I have found so far is that in Firefox the BG gif image does not show up under my menu (it works in IE). Also the one qt file I have is embeded instead of a popup, I don't quite get that.
Don't bother clicking the hi rez version of my demo, it takes forever to load. I should have a smaller version soon, but I wanted to get the site up.

I would reccomend avoiding frames. They actually don't look too bad in Firefox for me, but in ie it looks really bad at the moment. I'm seeing frame dividers, as well as GoDaddy ad frames (these may be adblocked in FF, I'm not sure honestly).
I would make the transition between the menu on the left, and the logo on the top left a little smoother, same as the transition from tartan on the left to page on the right.
I'd also chop the tartan on the left side at a different place (I'm seeing it in Firefox by the way), so that the image is smaller, and it repeats more smoothly.
Also, there's a typo on the "Kilts" page:
" The first thing I discovered is that they are incredibly comfortable. They are much cooler or hot days, and allow a better range of movement."
Also, It's very difficult to pull off a simple black background website, let alone one that's professionally oriented. Usually a white/light grey primary background will work better (for example, the background for all the content here is a light grey/light blue, and the secondary background is the tartan).
If you need help with anything let me know, I used to do websites as a hobby, and briefly for some work.

The site looks very good. I did notice that I had to view it full screen with Firefox in order to see all the menu on the left. That's not the sites fault though.

Concept is great...here are some pointers...
1. avoid frames at all costs.
2. The ads at the top distract from the site all too much. Having had many websites for a few years now, click-through revenue from those ads is minimal, and isn't worth the distraction they create on the site.
3. change your e-mail from the contacts as written. I can show you a trick or to. Spam robots will pick it off your site and start spamming you. no fun there.
4. Create buttons for the navigation links on the left. Against the tartan background, the links can be hard to read on some monitors.
if you need a hand with the site, let me know. I'll be more than happy to give you a hand.( I've been developing websites professionally for about 7 years now)

What kind of ad are people seeing? There shouldn't be any, and I'm not seeing any on either FF or IE.
Is there ane reason not to use frames other than google (et al) have harder times finding you. And for that matter shouldn't the spam bots miss my e-mail since it is in a frame? I've had my e-mail on my old site for years and never had a problem.

I was going to screenshot it and upload it for you to see, but I'm not seeing it now in IE.

there is some kind of google ad thing at the top...prolly from the host.
as for frames..it is more about perception than anything else. Frames are generally associated with "newbie" websites, because they are easy to use and quitck to set up. A vast majority of professional developers will say stay away from frames, not jsut because they are very basic, but because they can change the way your site looks on different resolution screeens.
as for the e-mail, it is mostly a precaution.
the ads are because the site is hosted free at godaddy.com. If the site is fairly small, send me a pm...I may have a solution for you...

Personal pref is for frames - it is always easier for me to navigate if I have a handy menu bar. It may make me look like a newbie to web sites, but people aren't paying me for that.
I don't have a free account with godaddy. I'm paying for an ad free space, but then I'm not seeing ads on either Ff or IE (I'd still like to know what's gong on).
Are all links working right and can you download demos (again don't worry about the big one).
Thanks all.

Now I'm getting ads in IE (still nothing in FF), but only on certain pages. I'm thinking I need to call their tech support.
