Some older pics of me in my greatkilt

I have lots of pics of me in my greatkilt, these are some good ones. All of these are from a few years ago, when I first started wearing kilts.

Here's the outfit I put together for my Highland dance class. I made the shirt and vest. Still wear the shirt occassionally, but I made a critical error when I made the vest: I forgot to pre-wash the fabric. Needless to say, it no longer fits. Which is unfortunate, because I prefer pinning the top of the greatkilt to my shoulder, rather than across my chest, which is what I've had to do since.

This is from the Ironwood Renaissance Faire. I shared a booth with a friend of mine, we were both kilted. The shirt is actually made from a pattern gotten from a medieval-era bog find, better for use with hose and belt, but I thought it was better to wear than my other shirt.

And here's three of us from the Houghton art faire, our group danced that year. It was windy. Very windy.

    Cheers,
    Nick

    Fantastic Nick,

I like seeing more of the traditional wear.
    Well done.

Great looking GK! You look like you are dying from the heat in pic #3. Is the GK pretty hot?

    Thanks all

Mrpharr, hot is one way to put it. That day was also extremely hot and sunny anyway, I ended up with quite a sunburn. So I spent two days standing next to a 3000 degree fire, in 100 degree+ heat, wearing 6 yards of wool. Toasty. But I was fine the whole time, kept myself hydrated and went into the shade when I had a chance. At another faire where I wore it while smithing, I actually unpinned it and let it hang in the back, then pulled it back up when I wasn't.

Switchblade, as often as I can, which is about every other day or so right now. I do a lot of work, now I'm trying to find places to sell it. I've got some things in at one local shop, I need to speak to the owners of a couple others. It's not enough for a living right now, but I love doing it. The forge and anvil in that picture are my travelling setup. I have a larger forge and two larger anvils at home, and another forge in need of restoration. I'm going to try to get a space at the Ishpeming Faire this summer, too.

Nick, great pics of a great kilt! And is that Iolaus on the right in that last pic? Hair is a little longer, but this was a few years ago. Sure looks like him!
