Kilt belts and buckles
OK, I am toying with the idea of getting a belt. As I have said before, I am and always have been perfectly comfortable without one. But, I am going to try.
So, do all the cheaper belts look like cheap belts? What about the one Stillwater sells? And what about the chrome buckles? They look a bit loud to me.
Can someone point me to a nice affordable place to start?

David,
Alan H. gave a really positive review of the Stillwater Kilts belts in Kilt accessories. And he got his as a "seconds" of of the Stillwater Ebay store.
The Stillwater price is really great. I spent $40 dollars just for the belt at the Campbell games to go with the cool thistle kilt belt buckle Michael Steinrok gave me (Which was ok by me, because it was the last touch to complete my kilted outfit, Thanks Michael!)
I thought before that a regular 1 1/5" belt was just fine with my kilts until I got by 2 1/4" thick kilt belt. It just looks better with the thicker belt.

I know that I am being lazy, but do they come in brown as well? What is the price?

The casual belts I saw last Saturday at the Tartans Museum are some of the nicest I've seen- well, except for mine, of course…

if you are looking for one that is really inexpensive, got to Lowes, and look in their tool-belt section. They have a dark brown, double-hole belt, three inches wide that is great. I've got one and it makes matching brown boots pretty easy!

What I did was go to my local leather/ saddlery shop and buy a pre-cut belt blank for something like $6-$8 and a brass buckle for around $4.
A lot of the belt blanks are already cut from a black or brown dyed leather.
If you want a different color, purple? Fiebings oil leather dye works very well.

I bought a 2 inch leather belt on ebay for $25. It's great quality, and I couldn't be happier. It was from dangerousthreads.com I think.
