    New Claddagh kilt pin

Well, there have been several kilt pin threads going the last couple of days. But, I'm selfish and wanted you all to tell me how cool I am for my new kilt pin.

But seriously. I guess this was probably designed more as a brooch. But, I found it most appropriate for wear for the upcoming wedding ( TWO WEEKS NOW!) seeing as the symbology behind it is all about the possesion of one's heart . It's an Irish symbol, which is also fitting for me since my maternal line is Irish (Kern/ McKern.) I've always loved this symbol as it shows up quite often in traditional tattoo flash as well. All for a wopping $10.50 on Ebay.

    Oh, and it's pewter.

That would look GREAT on an Irish National or an Irish district tartan!

Agreed I've decided tonight that I'm ordering a semi-traditional from Rocky in the Irish National. I have some stuff on Ebay that should raise me close to what i need.

I'm also going to wear it on the Henderson tartan for the wedding in order to honour both sides. My mom actually got a little testy when I first started researching the Henderson line and all this "Scots" stuff starting going on. "You're Irish too ya know!" she said.

An excellent idea and one worth bringing up in conversation at the reception. A fine way to honor both sides of the family as well as to show your romantic self. I like it when there is a reason for what we do even in the selection of ones clothing. But then isn't that part of what we do when we wear the kilt?

    Cheers! Bill

There are some Irish clan cap badges that use the Claddagh:
