    Heavens' gain, our loss...

Sorry I haven't posted for a while, just plain busy. I hate to herald my return with bad news but alas I had to post this.
Today I've found out a terrible thing.
On the morning of 24th June, Igor Medio and Carlos Redondo, two members of the group Felpeyu, were killed in a car crash. They were incredible musicians and gentlemen to know. They were both long time members of the folk band which play contemporary Asturian music, with roots in the traditional.
Carlos had been working intensively in rock music as a musician, teacher, producer and sound engineer, though he was mainly known in Asturies as singer and bass player of the legendary asturian pop-rock band Los Locos. He was introduced to folk music in the early 90's by producing some asturian bands; Felpeyu was one of them, and he joined the band right after producing their first recording "FELPEYU" in 1994. He played guitar and electric bass, and sang lead and harmony vocals. Carlos was born in Xixón, where he was based.
One of the two longest members of Felpeyu, Igor grew up into an atmosphere of choral and Asturian singing -which both his parents and family developed- and was into classical music studies and blues/rock experiences before being introduced to folk music, developing a personal and eclectic way of arranging and performing asturian traditional music. He played guitar and mandolin in the band, choosing the bouzouki as his main instrument afterwards; he then played bouzoukis, guitar -only in studio-, bass pedals, and sang lead and harmony vocals. Ígor was born in Xixón (Conceyu Xixón), where he also lived.
Both Igor and Carlos toured with Felpeyu to Australia quite a few times and their presence and performances were always brilliant. This is and aweful loss for myself personally and for the world of people who loved their music.I will miss them very much.

    Thanks

I'm always amazed at the compassion of humans. Some of the people who are part of this site are no exception and they make the rest of the world proud.
    Much thanks, Erin.
