The other one...
Here are two not very flattering photos of me and the 13 oz, 5-yard, MacLeod of Harris Hunting/Modern.
Here I have coordinated it with a pale yellow/cream tiny-striped shirt, and cream hose held up by the new green flashes. I wore this to Target tonight to find a new battery for my digicam, and then to dinner at Chipotle, where I got a "nice kilt" from a big burly guy who looked like he could compete in the Highland games.
The shoes have been among my favorites for several years - I've had them resoled once - and now that I've started wearing kilts, I like them even more. These Sketchers are sort of shoes, sort of sandals, and they sort of resemble ghillie's in that the socks show through.
As you can see, the pleats on this kilt are not deep at all, and there is some caving in the back. This O'Neil of Dublin casual sort of reminds me of the Stillwater standard, and I guess I got it for around the same price. There is no lining inside the fell, and I think it sags a little in the rear, on account of there being no stiffness. It is doubtful anyone would be aware of these matters but me.
Nevertheless, it is good for casual wear around town for dinners and such.
Regards from the Poor House,
Rex.

That's a good looking traditional kilt, Rex, and I like the dress sandals with it for summer wear with the short sleeve shirt. Thanks for posting the snaps.

On the second pic the first thing I noticed was the shoes...very nice. It's possible the kilt was built for a bigger butt...thus the cave in. The lack of a lining is probably due to the fact that the pleats on the inside haven't been trimmed , rather they are sewn flat as the fell may have been machine stitched.
You carry it well.
Cheers

Looks good Rex. Feudal hearthside backdrop for the pic too!
I'd never have thought sandals could look so good with a kilt - I'm still learning something new every day.

Congrats on the new kilts, both look great. Don't tell me where this shop is, cause the only thing that kept me from buying the ones you posted the other day is the Italian disease (dafunzalo).

It looks fine to me. I would not have noticed any problems with the kilt from these pictures. I do like the sandals. I have a similar pair that I wear when it is warm, but I usually do not wear socks with them. It looks nice, so I will keep it in mind.

Rex,
Good looking outfit. I'm not much of a sandal person but those really work with your kilt. "Modern Gillies" indeed. My Hunting Mcleod Stillwater standard is the kilt I wear most because (1) I'm married to a Mcleod, and (2) it's a handsome green tartan. By the by, nice setting.
Cheers
