Kilted at a closing party
I am going to a closing party in Wash DC tonight at 8 pm. This venue is closing after been in constant business since 1991 . I'll be there kilted for this event. I'll try to take some pics with my camera phoone, as cameras are not allowed in. A few others said that they are going kilted as well, so, I'll try to find them and get some pics of us to post!
Now, time to get in bed and take a nice nap, as this party starts at 8 pm and ends at 6 am the next morning. Will consume plenty of Red Bull and caffiene to stay awake for this long event! lol

Review of the Closing Party.
My brother and his girlfriend went to the closing party with me on friday night. We got a really late start. You know women! LOL!
The closing party was a blast! I meat 4 other guys that were kilted! One guy, David, was wearing his traditional MacKensie(sp?) [Irish]. The others were wearing UK kilts, 1) UK leather original in black. 2) Black UK original. 3) UK Spartan, in green with yellow/gold strips on the sides. My camera crapped out on me, but my brother got a good pic of me and David in his traditional. As soon as he sends me the pics of the party, I'll post them.
The DJs tore the roof off of the place! They all spun sets that were like, OMG! A few video shots of kilted WWI Scottish regiments charging over a burm (sp?) brought out emotions and LOUD cheers!
At the end of the night, 7:00 am actually, there was a man playing, "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes on the stage in the shadows. A fitting finish to a final event.

What was the connection between this venue and Scotland (or kilts)?

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

MacKenzie or McKenzie is Scottish not Irish. There is a rumour that the name started from Irish kings, but that has been proven incorrect.
Modern Tartan
The Seaforth Highlanders also wear the MacKenzie tartan.
Glad to hear the party was good. Were you suprised to see others in kilts? In my experience people sometimes say they will wear their kilts, but few do. I can't remember the last time I stayed up till sunrise (on purpose...my daughter makes sure I do from time to time anyway )

Well, here they are! Finally, the pics from the closing party have arrived. As I stated earlier, my cell phone camera crapped out on me, so I had to rely on my brothers camera.. So, here goes.....
This is David and I. He is the "Irish" guy I told you about. MacKensie.
Why my brother didn't get our kilts in the pic, I don't know. I told him to be sure to get the kilts, as I was posting them on here.
My brother Josh, and his fiance, Heather.
The inside of Nation Night Club from the 2nd floor. 2300+ people.
DJ Micro spinning dance music with a celtic flair.
DJ Dan spinning house music.
The Utah Saints playing Dropkick Murphys remixes.
And the man of the night, M. Scott Henry- owner and promoter for Buzzlife and Nation, spinning, "Sons of Somerled" remixed, followed by "Amazing Grace" remixed bagpipe version.
David dancing with LED light sticks.

Scott Henry asked for as many who were brave enough, to wear their kilts as there were going to be some celtic records mixed into the sets.
