DFW Scottish Invasion
From Yahoo group Denton_Celtic_Dancers:
It's a Scottish Invasion!
Attention All Scots, Americans of Scottish decent, and anyone who ever
had an ancestor that might have been from Scotland!
It's time to remind the local Philistines that we are around!
For the last four years the Scottish Heritage community in the
Dallas-Fort Worth area has met on the last Saturday in July and
"Invaded" some poor unsuspecting restaurant for food and camaraderie.
It's worth the price of a meal to watch the reaction of the other
patrons when we show up in kilts and sashes!
This year the "Scottish Invasion" will be held at the Blue Danube
restaurant in Arlington on Saturday July 29 at 7:00. The chef was
formally with the Mansion in Dallas. The food is reasonably priced and
very good. Several people are planning to bring their musical
instruments, so it is going to be a genuine Ceilidh. We are hoping that
many of the country dancers will come, because there is both a stage
and a small dance floor. They always like to get as many folks involved
as possible. They are eager teachers, and it is a lot of fun.
The address of the restaurant is 2230-A W. Park Row. It is on the south
side of the street. The name is on the marquee in front of the shopping
center. It is between the Park Row intersections of Fielder and Bowen,
but much closer to Bowen.
The owner has given us almost free run of about half of his main
dinning room, and has no objection to any of us that can, playing a few
tunes, maybe sing a bit, and some good old fashioned Scottish Country
dancing. So if you play something and want to, bring it along. Dancers
round up your troops and join us.
So if you live anywhere in the DFW area, or are going to be in our neck
of the woods, grab your kilt (if you don't have one, come on ahead
anyway) and let's have a CEILIDH!!
You wouldn't need reservations, but we do have to give the restaurant a
close head count by the end of next week. (July 23). So everyone that
plans to attend please email Royce Perry at
perryroyce@hotmail.com
Put "Head Count" in the subject line, and let him know how many will be
in your party.
For those that can't make it (or live too far away), please pass this
along to anyone else in your organization, friends or family that would
be interested. We are making progress toward building a broader
awareness of Texas' Scottish heritage. The Scottish Invasion is one
more way to bring us together as a community, and make the public
aware.
See You At

Be neat if we could get some dancers. Not often we have a venue where they can dance. This one is not real big,,but it will work.

I'll try to remember to copy you the next time we try to get together. The area we dance in is an aisle that's about 4 ft. wide. Cozy!

Hey!! I might could dance there,,,not enough room to fall down!!
We will need to get a preliminary head count by Monday. If they email you, would you forward to me. Or have them email me direct.

We are looking at as many is 60+ right now. Two pipers and enough assorted musicians to maybe have a little Ceilidh band,,,,well,,,maybe..if any of them know the same tunes! If Jules the Fiddler can come she has fiddled for the dancers before,,,so that would be cool!!
