Utilikilts vs. Union Kilts
Today I was on the Union Kilts web site and they look just like Utilikilts.
Utilikilts are having problems keeping up with demand and Union Kilts has some pretty nice looking products.
They look like Utilikilts but for anyone who has owned both - do they feel and act like Utilikilts? How is their quality and customer service?
It appears they are in England. Any difficulties with ordering if you are on the "wrong" side of the ocean?

I can't tell you anything about Union Kilts. However, when ordering from across the pond, you will often get charged some substantial customs fees.

Check with customs...I believe if it's labled kilt they don't charge duty...there was a thread on this. Also I believe, and again check with customs, they don't bother with clothing under $200 as you have a personel excemption of that value.

Probably because he didn't want to toot his own horn, have you checked out RKilts? With NAFTA it is just shipping to the USA from Canada.
Robert does have some neat looking Kilts too. But I also like UnionKilts.

No, I had never been out there. I guess they are now making kilts out of Hemp. So when they wear out can you smoke them?
I just had to ask.....
It looks like we are starting to get some real choices when it comes to casual kilts. If there are so many companies making them they MUST be getting more popular!

Hemp will take a long time to wear out....and unfortunately the smoke isn't that great.
Freedom Kilts, Amerikilts Buzz Kidder, Usa Kilts Union kilts and myself have been around for a number of years and a few others are just coming along in the last year or two. Pittsburg was around for a few years as well till he found something more lucrative ha ha.

I should just order one of each brand and see what I like.
Are you having a difficult time keeping up with demand? Have you seen demand increasing or have things been pretty steady?

Yes there is a demand, I am a one man operation so I'm super busy with sewing doing the highland games. Steve at Freedom kilts has help but he's busy too. Rocky and Kelly are busy from what I gather and so is McHummel at Canada Casual Kilts.
And you know what? I shouldn't be on this thread out of respect for both Union Kilts and UK
Cheers

Robert...
Here's the ettiquite I follow on XMarks and KR...
If the thread is in an ASSIGNED SECTION (like the Freedom Kilts section or the Union Kilts section or USAK section), then the topic SHOULD BE ABOUT that sponsor. We PAY to have those sections, so they SHOULD be about us. I'm not trying to be snotty, just trying to get what I pay for.
If someone ELSE brings your name / company up in a thread about another company and it's in a NEUTRAL category (general kilt talk, etc), then you're not to fault.
If you're responding to such a post (good / bad / indifferent), it's legit.
It's when someone posts in another's section or someone comes up and toots their own horn in someone else's thread that it is in poor taste... ie. If you came up here and were the second person to post and said "I make solids TOO... Here's my company's info... This is how much they cost... yada yada yada..." THEN you'd be at fault. As far as I am concerned, you're giving info and feedback to this thread (not just "trolling for customers"). You're addressing points directly that involve you.
You're a stand up guy... I don't see you stepping out of line... much.
