BBC World Record
The BBC have just covered a 'Dancing in the streets' programme live at Trafalgar square in London,to be entered as a world record with as many simultaneous dancing styles occuring simultaneously. Our kilted bretheren were well represented as were Irish, Spanish, Indian, synchronised swimming, African, tap, and street dance.
It was great to see such a united celebration of dance..... and people having fun in general! Great coverage and a great event in general.

Rained off
I took part in another world record attempt earlier that day - the largest simultaneous dance class - organised by BBC local radio and the Arts Council of England.
It was hot and humid in Didcot and even in my 13oz wool kilt I had a hard time staying cool. Great fun though to be struttin' ma stuff with belly dancers, ballroomers, ceroc jivers and a whole crowd of stage struck youngsters in sparkly costumes. And we did get the record - 8,900+ people dancing at the same time.
Unfortunately before we got to our scheduled one hour slot of Scottish Dancing the heavens opened and the downpour not only scattered the crowd but put the BBC's PA equipment out of action so even if we had danced on in the rain it would have been to mouth music and to an empty auditorium. Rained off this time. Our hopes of recruiting new dancers dashed.
So I too was glad to catch a glimse of the kilts at the grand jamboree in Trafalgar Square on TV last night.
