    Clan MacBubba?

Ran into a guy at Stone Mountain Friday night with a t-shirt on that had the saltire on it with "x marks the scot" on it.

I asked if the shirt was from our web site here, and he said it was from Clan McBubba. I've heard of this site before but after revisiting it this weekend to see what was up, it appears it's not a very active group (only about 600 members).

Anyway, they don't appear to be kilt related, more of a Scottish-American heritage group.

Anyone know anything about these guys? The guy with the shirt didn't seem interested in being chatty so I didn't bother asking him anything further.

Most Scottish-American heritage groups I know (and belong to) have quite a few kilts in them. And 600 members is pretty good for most Scottish groups, btw -- I only wish our local St. Andrew's Society and my Clan society had that many!

Clan McBubba is a "fun" organization for Scottish-Americans, a parody of the Clan Society. A similar society is the Clan McFritz:

True, I guess I was comparing it to our 1500 + members and no membership fee. Thanks for the link.

Clan MacBub has been around for a long time and has open membership. They started with the guys from caberdancer.com - which is a graphics company that produces all manners of t-shirts and such for Scots and others. The first "X" tee that I saw was from them. They can usually be found at the bigger games and festivals with a booth full of great t-shirts and typical clan benefits for MacBubba members. I've never joined, but two of my brothers are members. I do have a ton of their t-shirts, though.

Their website is Caberdancer / Clan MacBubba. Check out their merchandise section for great t-shirts.

they had a booth at Grandfather Mnt Games and at the Aiken SC games. I have their "Carolina Scots" shirt. Its a bit more tame than most of their others.

I think Hank went and asked permission to use the XMarks name. IIRC, the deal was something like "Yes, but Caberdancer controls the product marketing (selling shirts and such). That was a long time ago, the situation seems to have changed.

A friend of mine has a Clan McBubba polo shirt. I had no idea it was for actual group. But if anyone, he deserves that clan.

    Thumbs up

I checked that site out. It has some pretty cool t-shirts! For a minute, I wondered if they were connected to X-Marks, myself. But soon realised, no, after looking further into the site Pretty cool site!

Card carrying member here. They started out with a t-shirt about
some of the guys they would see at the games here in the south.
    They named the caricature McBubba.
Clan MacBubba was born when someone asked how to join.
They still own the rights to the shirt of X marks the SCOT.
The xmarks the scot.com shirt is not being made to produce a profit.
I think they even helped with a vendor for making the kilt pins.

I have most of their shirts.
