Kilts in Sweden?
I just added myself to the kilt map. I encourage everyone to do the same if you have not already.
I was sitting here thinking that I would love to have a map with a push-pin showing all the guys on the forum who are wearing kilts in public and then I thought.....DUH! WE ALREADY HAVE THAT!!
I see we have one member in Sweden and I'm wondering how popular kilts are over there????

I think I've mentioned both of these sites before to you, but here we go again:
http://www.calsoc.se/ (The Caledonian Society of Sweden)
http://www.sackpipa.com/eng/ (Pipes and Drums of the 1st Royal Engineers)
Cheers,
Todd

I went out to that web site and looking at the pictures, most of the guys were in pants....except for the one guy with the bagpipes. So....that would indicate that Swedes are not into kilts if they won't wear them when at a Scottish meeting.

It depends, of course. I know several Scots expats in Caledonian/St. Andrew's Societies around the globe; most do wear their kilts for official functions, and some of the "locals" have adopted them as well -- for example, the Caledonian Society of Norway recently was instrumental in devising the new Norwegian tartan:

I'll ask my contact with the society, Graham, how many kilts are in the group.
My point was that there is Scottish culture (and kilts) in Sweden, via the society and pipe bands -- not that kilts were "rampant" (pun intended) there!

I was just wondering if they are enjoying the same revival in casual use we are seeing in other parts of Europe, Canada, and the US.

Our source "on the ground", so to speak, is our own Freelander next door in Norway...
