New SWK Weathered Lamont
OK, just new to me.
Zardoz was looking to swap a Stillwaterkilt Weathered Lamont for a Saffron Shadow kilt a while back. Just my size too.
I just could not bring myself to give up my Saffron. Only had it a few months.
I did really like the Weathered Lamont however.
I guess he had no takers because shortly thereafter, he put it up for sale. I could not resist any longer and I made him an offer, which he accepted.
After receiving payment, he packaged it up very nicely and sent it last Friday and it came in today!
After supper, I put it on and my wife took some pics which are at the link below under WLamont. Like many, I could not wait to iron out the few wrinkles.
The kilt is a nice weight with solid buckles and straps. SWK lives up to the reputation they have on this forum. It's going to make a great casual kilt.
Along with the kilt, Zardoz sent brown hose flashes. I'm very happy with the kilt and I hope I have helped Zardoz get his Saffron soon. Thanks.
Along with the kilt, I have some other accessories to show for the first time.
My X Marks kilt pin came in a week ago. Somehow got lost in the APO system but finally showed up. Thanks Ron for pulling this together for us.
Next item is a brown belt pouch that I bought at a Ren Faire. I used it for accessories this past weekend, in addition to the sporran. It is just a little more secure.
Final accessory, also just came today, is a Balmoral bonnet I got from Glengarryhat. It was supposed to be Khaki, but the bonnet is much darker than it appears in the picture on the website. The bonnet was made in Pakistan, but seems to be decently put together. It does match some of the browns in the Weathered Lamont. I'll keep it, but I would also like to get one more in a tan color.
For all the Lamont's out there, I have no known connection with that name, but I will wear it with respect and pride.
The best part of receiving the kilt and balmoral today is that tomorrow is my birthday and I got Presents!! even if I did buy them myself.
Have a good evening all,
Tom

Now there is a fellow with the right spirit!
Actually, that tartan is not a true, weathered Lamont, it is just another of those tartans that was 'close'.

And yes, I would really like to have a kilt in this tartan. If only I were not skint...

Wow...the darker one would certainly be more to my taste...the areas of white in the Stillwater version just make it look too light for my liking.
Best

As Mike says below, you have the right approach, and you convinced me. When I receive the SWK Weathered Lamont heavyweight that I odered yesterday after reading this thread, I'll be on my best behavior anytime I wear it.

Agreed!

..
I see your point, there is a difference, but the sample you linked to is actually as far removed from a real weathered Lamont as is the Stillwater tartan (or it could be monitor differences I guess). Take a look at the Tartans Authority version of "Lamont Heather".
I think the Stillwater tartan - whether it really is Lamont or not - is quite handsome and even presents a little better contrast. I quite like it's brighter colors. I'm looking forward to seeing what it looks like in the flesh, and one way or the other, I intend to treat it with the respect I would show any clan tartan.

Received my SWK Weathered Lamont heavyweight in the afternoon mail. It isn't quite as bright as pictured above, which pleases me. I'm a happy customer. Nice kilt for a very reasonable price, no hassle sale and quck delivery. Can't ask for much more than that.
Thanks Stillwater!

Here is an early 19th century variant of Lamont, true colors.
