The Gossip Fence
I have become used to stares, finger pointing, requests for photos from passerbyers. I really like it, when one person sees me in my kilt, and then tries to point me out to a friend and trying to be coy about it. Nothing can be more obvious. Last week was a new experience. I was staying at a Bed and Breakfast in Co. Sligo in Ireland, and took a walk to the local restaurant recommended by our host. When we returned, the women we rented from informed us, that a half hour after we left the house, her phone rang and one of the local women called her to let her know there was a guy in a kilt at the local pub. Amazing, that 30 minutes after I stepped out the door, the whole city was aware of my presence. I don't know if that has happend before, but it was the first time I have been made aware of it.

Women have an intelligence network greater than any governments.

telephone
television
tell-a-woman ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif) ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
Isn't it great being noticed in such a way, have pity for the faceless millions of men in trousers!

I'd have to say their gossip network is far faster than any know communication medium.
and I think the correct order is
1. tell-a-woman
2. telephone ( operated by a woman)
3. television ( watched and commented on by a woman)
Men don't enter until about #15 from what I've seen.
oh, and the communication speed between female twins trumps all.

In the early days of Ma Bell there was a system of telephone switch stations that required operators to hand connect caller to responder. The neighborhoods in the communities with telephone service were all on a small set of single lines. All of the phone subscribers were assigned to a group of phones. The groups consisted of two and more phones, up to sixteen, but usually around eight on multiple service lines that were called party lines. To get a private line of single line service one paid, and because of depression sentiment and mindset at the time, what seemed to be a prohibitively exhorbitant amount. It wasn't really. But, felt quite expensive when the service was new.
Well, Ma Bell was a monopoly and was eventually broken down into a subset of telephone service providers. The competition helped knockout the party line systems and grew healthily into the nebulae of landline systems we enjoyed for so long until McCaw, the start of Cellular One and the proliferation of satellite and cellular phone services.
The gossip line could not tolerate such wranklings back then in the infancy of modern telephone communications. So, when the party line system came along, the natural course was to encourage men to be inventive. The gossip bosses shared old outdated networking techniques with their S.O's. and voila telephone service networking was born. The party lines disappeared. What smart fellas our predecessors were! In the meantime, while we were patting ourselves on the backs for being soooo resourceful, the gossip mill churned in high gear as usual vending out all the best (worst) tidbits of non-newsmongering.
Gentlemen and fair lassies alike, don't be surprised with the swiftness of the system that has been at work since the dawn of humanity. The electric lines are fine gadgets to keep us boys and all tinkerers busy. However, the real work of news dissemanation flies along with life speed posting the latest to our dismay and tantalizing us with the possibilities of me finding out something about myself before you hear it!
OMG the gossip lines are here forever! ........ but, at least I have my diary.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

LOL Good word fer a heads up Livingston. Yer hairs are safe. The "dawn of humanity" was referring to gossip, while Ma Bell in her infancy was only just recently! My hairs are all gone, so I can't offer much alternative consolation if you somehow lose yers ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
The modern communications system worldwide seem to pale in impact when put up against the intuitive and telepathic powers that be.
