Lovely pictures. I am assuming from the photos that this was at a Catholic Church (the bust of John Paul II in the sacristy gives it away). The Grant tartan you are wearing is also the tartan worn by Drummonds. My kilt is in this same tartan, but I am a Drummond descendant. I would personally never wear the kilt for Mass, since I am a priest, but I think all of you look great. I'd love to see a photo from the wedding itself, if you wish to post one.

Congrats on your wedding, you guys look great!

A wedding is one of those occasions where I believe it is more than appropriate to wear a kilt to Mass. See my blog post from last Easter:
    http://blog.albanach.org/2006/04/why...or-easter.html

(Of course, the officiating priest would be another matter from the groom and wedding party! Of course, Father, even if you were wearing a kilt no one would know under all those vestments!)

I would know. I would only wear a cassock for liturgical functions under my vestments. I think kilts are most appropriate.

Our ceremony was held at St. Mary's Cathedral here in Calgary and officiated by deacon Paul Murphy. I'll try looking for a good one of the ceremony, I was focusing on more of the "kilt aspect" of the day with the pictures I showed.

Like Matt mentioned, I don't think anyone would realize you were wearing a kilt if so chose to. Back when I was kid (I can't remember how old I was) the bishop (I believe) came to my home town of Wetaskiwin (here in Alberta) and presided over mass that weekend. Our local priest, Fr. MacInnis -maybe it was just Mc- wore a stole in his tartan. I to this day think it was a great idea.

I only wear my kilt at special events, I only have the one and I'm not willing to risk it being damaged in everyday wear. I definitely wouldn't wear it to mass. Like Matt said, in the article he linked to above, it would distracting and I think it would be especially so with a tartan like the Grant; bright red! I have considered wearing it to Christmas Eve mass since the colours are well... Christmas-y
