Green Lane Park Scottish Irish festival

    Hello Everyone,
Has anyone ever attended the Green Lane Park Scottish and Irish festival that is happening this Saturday and Sunday? I am in Baltimore and would love to go. I think it is about a 3 hour trip and would like to hear about any comments that people may have as to whether they think it is a good festival to attend or not.
    Thx

Its a good time, I plan to be there. I went last year. Free parking and admission. Good music, trad dancing and good food. The main stage is in a field so you can get as close or as far away as you want, it's good to have a blanket or folding chair to sit on. The kids enjoyed the falconry and face painting. The highland games were competitive. It is pretty low key and more of a local festivial as compared to the Celtic Classic Festival in Bethlehem which is gigantic and seems to draw from everywhere.

+'s... it's family oriented (LOTS of kids), it's free, it has decent music.

-'s... It's Family Oriented (LOTS OF KIDS), No Alcohol allowed (state park)

If you're only going to come up for 1 event, I'd rather see Celtic Classic in Bethlehem on the 22nd, 23rd, 24th. If you can make it up for both, GREAT!

Our shop is only 1/2 hour or 45 Min away from GL... we haven't been there in 2 years, but it was pretty fun.

It's worth the trip up. You'll see "Enter The Haggis" this year, along with one the best piping competitions in the area. Make sure to support the Loch Rannoch Pipe Band since a few of their members are ex-Baltimore residents (and a couple are Barleyjuicers).

Just be sure to Mapquest the directions so that you don't wind-up in Allentown. It can be a little tricky once you hit 29 north and get near the park.

I know a LOAD of people who are going to go (as will I) and it really is a relaxing and fun time. Hey... you can't beat the price!

Wow. What a great setting for an event. My wife and I attended this event for the first time yesterday and we had an incredible day. The vendor selections were good for accessories but other than Amerikilts there was almost no one selling kilts. We watched Enter the Haggis for two sets and they were great as always plus the sound was very good at this event. Also loved the two Loch Ness monsters swimming around all day in the lake. This event will definitely be added to our must attend list for next year. BTW, this was the first outing for my new suede micro-fiber AK (pictures and a short review to follow)

Hopefully more folks will attend this event which just gets bigger, and bigger, every year! It was an OUTSTANDING weekend of weather too.

For those that get the chance next year, there's MUCH more than vendors and music. There's Highland Games, dog competitions (and exhibits), GREAT food and the best of the Celtic community... and it's free!!!

Plan on visiting next summer. It's well worth the trip.
