My wife and I took a hike yesterday off the Blue Ridge Parkway and I decided to try it kilted. She snapped this pic while we were resting beside Boone Fork Creek. There were a few leaves that had already changed color and there was just the hint of a nip in the air as the day wore on. Fall is coming! We stopped to eat in Banner Elk and as the waiter left our check he said, "You know, I never even think about kilts since I see so many of them." Apparently they have a Bagpipe major at Lees McCrae College there in town where he is a student and kilts are frequently worn. All I got was a few smiles all day and a few looks but no other comments and that included breakfast at Cracker Barrell. My son was with us then in his new Fraser USA Casual. He opted out of the hike unfortunately. Also, we passed a couple of women on the trail and one had a t-shirt that said, "Hike naked, it'll put color in your cheeks." I thought as I passed her that if you can't hike naked, the next best thing is to hike kilted!
