Yesterday I was told ...
As I have mentioned in the off topic section, we met up with Trefor (McClef) in Abergavenny yesterday. The bus on the way there was heaving and very hot, and the journey which should take an hour took 1hr 45mins due to road works and traffic. Anyhow, as soon as we all got off the bus, the time now being 12.15 midday, we were all in need of the loo and a coffee/beer before we set off into the town to look around and then eventually to meet up with Trefor. We went straight into the first pub we came to. The pub was really full due to an International Food Festival that is going on in the town this weekend. There were quite a number of 'locals' in there as well as visitors, of which one local was already quite pie eyed and stood at the bar talking really loud to his mate about something. After a short while, he had turned around and obviously spotted me. Well .... then he started, as the thread title says (less one or two other words he used but certainly not suitable for here) .. Yesterday I was told that anyone who wears a Kilt with boots and teashirts and things are absolutely pathetic and also an insult to the Kilt. What his asscoiation with the Kilt is, if one, I don't know. Well this guy just kept repeating himself again and again and then started going around to various people in the pub in his loud and drunken fashion to tell them as well in case they never heard him in the first place. The only thing I said to him at one point was 'Welcome to the 21st Century' but that was just like water off a ducks back and to complicated for him answer I guess. He must have gone on for 5 mins or so until he sort of shut up. I felt sorry for the guy and it did'nt bother me one bit. We just carried on chatting and having our coffees and beers. It was still a great day out and we met up with Trefor as well.

Derek
Maybe he had a pint or two more than was good for him!
I expect that in his cups he thinks that he is an expert on many things and thinks that everyone wants to listen to his pearls of "wisdom."
Clearly he is not used to seeing the endless versatility possible with a kilt, especially when it is worn casually. We pioneers here in Wales will hopefully help to overcome such a mindset.

I put money on this guy being obnoxious in a sober state as well. The booze just shed his inhibitions such that he made an a$$ of himself.
That was an excellent come-back by BTW.
