    Sporran alternatives...

so, in my search for a canvas sporran, i decided to go to the local army surplus place. i ended up getting 2 of these pouches, one olive and one black, for only $4.95 each. here's a link to the product. the pics are protected, so a link is all i can provide. Rothco Pouches

i may try to order one of these as well....
    Rothco Shotgun Shell Pouch

the pouches i bought, already have a nice wide loop on the backside for a very wide belt. i plan to get some canvas belt material to run through the loop, and put some D-rings on there for lobster claw clips or something similar.

I had considered those for my PK MarPat kilt. Then I saw how much I could carry in the pockets of the kilt and decided I didn't need a sporran for it

I think they're just a bit too long... at least to be worn in the usual front and center sporran position.

mashed totally flat, they aren't but maybe 1/2" taller than my leather sporran. since they are more flexible, i'll bet when i start packing money, keys, flask etc. in there, it will probably shorten up a bit since the sides will expand, and the sides won't be pushing out the bottom. i think i'll do just fine with my black twill UK.
