    Full length kilts

Yah, I know I've mentioned them before...let's not get bogged down in whether or not they're actually kilts. I think they look sweet. But onto the purpose of this thread.

Does anybody besides 21st Century Kilts make them? Has anybody here tried making one? To sporran or not to sporran?

That's pretty much what we did for Madonna a few years back. Most of the dancers got them about 30 - 32" in length (mid calf).

Kelly thought that they were innovative. I didn't care much for them.

Personally, I think they look great. I never saw the ones made by 21st Century Kilts until today though. Actually I have been contemplating getting one custom made for a while now. After reading the directions for making the"X-Kilt" I have seriously considered attempting to create one for myself. Though I have never sewn a stitch in my life.

As for a sporran... I'm not sure. It would certainly make it look more "kilt like" as opposed to just looking like the "weirdo in the skirt."

I've seen a couple on Ebay in the past, most being made of leather or PVC. A couple of years ago I might have gotten one or still might if the price was super cheap. I don't think a sporran or a kilt belt would look too good on them.

I'd imagine that a sporran would look odd with a garment that long. I'd also imagine that this style works better as a solid color rather than tartan.

Thanks; it's good to be back. I'm so busy with school and life and whatnot that my little obsession with kilts has taken a backseat. Although I am, with the help of a seamstress fellow student and friend (long title, but accurate), making a black denim casual kilt. It's turning out pretty sweet; I'll post pics when it's done, although with our busy lives who really knows when that will be. And no, it's not full-length  It's just down to my knees. Maybe the next one...who knows, I could use some of that Oriental Print silk that you see in some other 21st C pictures. I really love that company; they're so whack.
