Entering 'California kilt rentals' into Google brings 69,900 returns, so I dare say you'll find something to your liking.

Hi there,
Thanks for your help. I was hoping maybe for some personal recommendation as obviously I do not come from the US and it would be better if someone had used them before.
I will go in and look at the search you recommended.
Thanks again,
Steve

I *just* purchased a 5-yard budget kilt from:
MacKinnons Quality Kilts
1330 East Roosevelt Rd.
Long Beach, CA 90807
....at the Ben Lomond Games. I don't know if they hire, but the people that helped me out were great and very pleasant folks. They had the usual array of ilts, socks, sporrans and so on, though the proprietress said they were waiting on a large shipment of stuff from Scotland that was apparently still going through customs.
e-mail them at: MACKILTS2006@aim.com

glengall1, just a note as to a difference between English English and American English... it might help your search to look for "rent" or "rental" instead of "hire."
In the USA we hire when we add them as an employee to our company.
We rent tuxedos, kilts, etc.
Thought that might help.

Steve,
I understand the request for a personal recommendation. Smart move.
Southern California is a BIG place. There are enough posters on this forum from this part of the world that you'll probably receive many recommendations. If you are going to be in the San Diego area when you need some kit, look up Scottish Treasures. I've had very good service from them. The proprietor is from Scotland - they know their stuff.

I had no idea this place existed, I'll check them out tomorrow!

I have got a more accurate location looking for recommendations on kilt hire.
It is in the south bay area (Redondo Beach, Torrance, Long Beach, San Pedro). Again pardon me for my ignorance as I am not fronm the US.

That's the southwestern portion of the immense Los Angeles basin, not far at all from Orange County. We have several posters from that area that I'm sure will step up as soon as they see this thread. Stay tuned.
